About the position

The IT Infrastructure & Capital Projects Lead at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, plays a pivotal role in developing, improving, and supporting the university's enterprise web program. This position is responsible for the creation, execution, and oversight of vendor contracts and relationships, ensuring that all technical aspects of IT infrastructure capital construction projects are managed effectively. Under general supervision, the lead will provide project management and leadership, focusing on the successful planning, tracking, and implementation of these projects. This includes meeting with both internal and external teams to advise on technical impacts, managing vendor relationships, and communicating project information to customers and the Information Technology Services (ITS) department. The role requires collaboration with various teams, including IT and Facilities, to ensure that both major and minor capital projects align with strategic goals and objectives. The lead will prepare and coordinate project meetings, utilizing both Waterfall and Agile methodologies to ensure milestones and deliverables are met. This includes developing project charters, timelines, and conducting workshops and daily standups. The position also involves understanding and communicating the impact of construction decisions to campus constituents and ITS leadership, as well as collaborating with partners to develop infrastructure roadmaps and technology lifecycles. Responsibilities

  • Develop, improve, and support the Cal Poly enterprise web program.
  • Create, execute, and oversee vendor contracts and relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Two years of relevant experience in IT project management or related areas.
  • Experience with Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies.
