About the position

The IT Infrastructure & Capital Projects Lead at Cal Poly is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of IT infrastructure capital construction projects. This role involves project management, vendor relationship management, and ensuring the successful planning and execution of projects that align with the university's strategic goals. The position requires collaboration with various teams to develop infrastructure roadmaps and communicate the impact of construction decisions to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, improve, and support the Cal Poly enterprise web program.
• Create, execute, and oversee vendor contracts and relationships.
• Provide leadership and project management for IT infrastructure capital construction projects.
• Meet with internal and external teams to advise on technical impacts.
• Manage vendors and communicate project information to customers and ITS.
• Prepare and lead project meetings and activities, including project charters and timelines.
• Collaborate with IT and Facilities teams on capital projects focusing on strategy and budget management.
• Communicate the impact of construction decisions to campus constituents and ITS leadership.
• Develop infrastructure roadmaps and related technology lifecycles.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Two years of relevant experience in IT project management.
• Ability to substitute additional qualifying experience for education on a year-for-year basis.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of technology standards and budget management.
