About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role at the Teacher Retirement System involves ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of the organization's IT infrastructure. This position encompasses managing a complex environment that includes Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft Active Directory, and cloud-based services like Microsoft 365. The role is hybrid, requiring two days of onsite work per week in Austin, TX, and offers opportunities for professional growth across three levels: Associate, Engineer, and Senior Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing a complex application and infrastructure environment including Windows and Linux servers, Microsoft Active Directory, and Microsoft 365.
• Automate processes and integrations using Infrastructure-as-code, primarily PowerShell.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, maintain, and monitor IT infrastructure.
• Analyze and diagnose infrastructure problems and provide support for infrastructure-related tasks.
• Monitor applications and systems for compliance with licensing agreements and system availability.
• Participate in planning, organizing, and coordinating special projects.
• Research developments in site reliability engineering and recommend improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, IT, or a closely related field.
• One year of full-time experience in site reliability engineering for Associate level; three to five years for Engineer and Senior levels.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain automated processes and tools for reliable IT infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of automation engineering using PowerShell.
• Experience with Microsoft 365 and DevOps methodologies.
• Possession of relevant Microsoft certifications.
