About the position

The IT Infrastructure Implementation Manager position at Redwood City, CA, is a contract role that spans 12 months with the potential for full-time conversion. This role is critical for managing large and complex technical projects, specifically focusing on the deployment of IT infrastructure for new buildings and renovations. The successful candidate will oversee projects related to network systems, telephony, audio/visual systems, cabling, and cellular networks, ensuring that all projects are delivered successfully by adhering to project management best practices. In this position, you will lead the full project management lifecycle, which includes planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects. You will be responsible for managing resources, timelines, and budgets to ensure that each project meets its objectives. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with various university teams and external partners to achieve project goals. This includes leading discussions, driving consensus, and managing stakeholder expectations effectively. Additionally, you will develop and execute change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruptions during project implementation. Your role will also involve contributing to the continuous improvement of the client's processes, methodologies, and tools, ensuring that the project management practices are not only followed but also enhanced over time.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years managing complex IT infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale IT infrastructure projects in a dynamic environment, particularly in new construction and renovation contexts.
  • Strong project leadership skills with the ability to guide teams and manage budgets.
  • Commitment to adopting UIT project management practices and providing regular updates to executive sponsors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • ScrumMaster (CSM) certification is desired.
  • ITIL certification is desired.
