About the position

AECOM is currently seeking an IT Infrastructure Specialist IV for a future upcoming project in the Arlington, VA area. The IT Infrastructure Specialist IV is responsible for the program management of all integration and technical infrastructure fit-out activities associated with client-owned systems and/or services and critical infrastructure that is required to be installed into new data center builds or lease facilities. This role requires the identification and management of scopes and interdependencies between all external and internal stakeholders, coordinating these with the physical construction build and general contractor. The IT Infrastructure Specialist IV is also responsible for coordinating the handover process and ensuring that the required handover documentation and expectations are met to transition the space to our Operations teams and the business. In this position, the IT Infrastructure Specialist IV will produce and manage project plans and execute major milestones such as Early Access, Ready Network Install, Corpnet Live, Security CX Complete, Fit Out Complete, Lockdown, and Colo Ready. Additionally, this role encompasses financial approval and management functions, ensuring that all project activities align with budgetary constraints and financial expectations. The specialist will advocate for managing a safe worksite and will coordinate internal client scope and resource efforts, requirements, and schedules with those of the landlord, Owned Vendors, and Suppliers to ensure a smooth and timely handover of the fitted-out Data Centre facility and capacity to the Operations team and Business Groups. This includes coordinating with the Data Center Engineering team and supporting specialty consultants to review, improve, and execute the design, as well as managing the procurement and installation of telecom materials, security systems, and corporate network facilities. The role also involves aligning metro-wide delivery strategies to local team objectives, managing stakeholder dependencies, and ensuring the delivery of Integration and Technical Infrastructure scope and deliverables. The IT Infrastructure Specialist IV will work closely with the DCD Construction manager and report to the Regional ITIM team leader, driving the deployment of solutions that can be socialized globally and facilitating client/sponsor decision-making to drive solutions, schedules, and manage changes as required. Regular reviews of cost and KPI metrics, invoices, and process/policy communications to partners will also be part of the responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for managing a safe worksite

  • Coordinate with the Data Center Engineering team and supporting specialty consultants to review, improve and execute the design
  • Manage telecom materials procurement, telecoms installation, Security systems installation, FFE procurement and installation
  • Coordinate the design, procurement, installation and turn up of the facility Corporate Network
  • Align metro wide delivery strategies to local team objectives, business processes, vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts
  • Agree delivery strategies across multi sites and manage a continuous improvement program
  • Identify and manage stakeholder dependencies and construction deliverables and handoffs
  • Work alongside the DCD Construction manager and report into the Regional ITIM team leader
  • Create and/or maintain best practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutions
  • Manage the selection, contracting, and integration of multiple vendors and internal partners
  • Drive deployment of solutions that can be socialized globally
  • Facilitate client/sponsor decision-making to drive solutions, schedules, and manage change as required
  • Regularly review cost and KPI metrics, invoices, process/policy communications to partners
  • Coordinate meetings and activities of vendors, cost managers, and integration of lessons learned

Requirements

  • BA/BS in computer science, business management, electrical engineering, construction management or similar experience
  • 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • 5+ years' experience in IT fit out or construction related project management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain cross-functional and positive working relationships with internal and external teams
  • Experience managing large scale enterprise projects with both localized and virtual teams
  • BICSI RCDD or similar Telecommunications Design/Installation Experience preferred
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
  • High personal standard to deliver a thoughtful, polished and quality work product
