About the position

The IT Infrastructure Technician & Supervisor at DEFTEC Corporation is responsible for overseeing the on-site team, ensuring effective coverage of shifts, and managing complex IT infrastructure tasks. This role involves training personnel, maintaining telecommunications equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. The technician will also be involved in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of various IT systems, including video surveillance and alarm systems, while collaborating with team members to design and implement solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise on-site team ensuring all shift/schedules are covered
  • Train personnel as needed to accomplish all required tasks
  • Handle more complex tasks/work assignments
  • Attend daily change of shift meetings ensuring team knows current status of all equipment priority tasks for each shift
  • Ensure daily reports are completed by the team and submitted by 8PM MST
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain IT, audio visual and telecommunications equipment
  • Install, troubleshoot, configure, and maintain IT Equipment including Alarm Systems, Video Surveillance Systems, Switches, Battery Backups, Access Points, etc.
  • Install, maintain, and terminate cabling, including CAT6 and fiber
  • Perform daily/scheduled maintenance checks and services on equipment
  • Mounting and securing telecommunications equipment such as switches, routers, and patch panels
  • Testing and troubleshooting network connections to identify and resolve issues
  • Conducting site surveys to assess telecommunications infrastructure needs
  • Collaborating with other team members to design and implement telecommunications solutions
  • Documenting all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities accurately
  • Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while working in various environments
  • Providing technical support and assistance to end-users as needed
  • Keeping abreast of advancements in telecommunications technology and best practices
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 5+ years IT installation, configuration, and troubleshooting on video surveillance, alarm system and network equipment
  • High proficiency in IT/IT infrastructure installation, configuration, and troubleshooting skills
  • Practical experience of at least 3 years of cabling and termination best practices including fiber optic cables
  • Managed a team of at least 4 technicians working multiple shifts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience supporting the Department of Homeland Security
  • A+ Certification and/or Network + Certifications
