About the position

At USAble Life, we are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our customers and employees. As a Network, Server, & Data Center Operations Intern, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for delivering quality IT services. This role involves a variety of tasks including the analysis, installation, upgrade, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of software and hardware deployments across several critical IT infrastructure categories. You will gain hands-on experience with technologies such as VMware ESXi, SAN storage, backup and recovery systems, and both Windows and Linux servers, as well as cloud services like Azure. In addition to IT infrastructure, you will also work with network and network security components, including LAN, WAN, Wireless technologies, F5, VPN, firewalls, IPS, and internet proxy systems. Your responsibilities will extend to IT systems management, where you will engage with tools like Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Citrix, and Secure FTP. This internship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of IT operations while enhancing your technical skills in a supportive environment. As part of your role, you will interact with IT customers and colleagues to assist with various IT challenges and issues documented in tickets. You will analyze situations and implement solutions that not only satisfy the customer but also adhere to departmental standards, policies, and procedures. Timely troubleshooting and resolution of reported issues will be a key focus, along with recognizing and escalating unreported issues as necessary. Responsibilities

  • Interact with and assist IT customers and colleagues with IT challenges and issues documented in tickets.
  • Analyze situations and implement solutions that please the customer and align with department standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve timely reported issues with a focus on customer service and service level objectives.
  • Recognize, communicate, document, and escalate unreported issues.
  • Learn quickly and provide competent support in all technology areas supported by the team.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate school pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a technically equivalent degree program.
  • Basic network and LAN troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic knowledge and troubleshooting of Microsoft Windows operating system and Active Directory environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Detail oriented with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and work within time constraints.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new IT skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • IT related experience in a work study program.
  • Two (2) or more years of school work until graduation.
