About the position

The IT Intern for Software Asset Management at Corning will play a crucial role in understanding and assisting with the Software Asset Management (SAM) Policy. This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience about the importance of software asset management, how it is enforced, and the measures taken to ensure compliance and cost control within the organization. The intern will be involved in managing and optimizing software assets throughout their lifecycle, which includes tracking software licenses, ensuring compliance, and analyzing utilization metrics. As part of the internship, the intern will partner with the team lead to enhance data integrity and reporting capabilities within the SAM Pro Asset Management tool. This will involve working on entitlement information in the license workbench and re-harvesting unused licenses to optimize software usage. Additionally, the intern will collaborate with the Vendor Management Office (VMO) and Global Supply Management (GSM) teams to gain insights into the software ordering process and participate in process improvement workshops. This hands-on experience will provide valuable exposure to the operational aspects of software asset management and the strategic importance of IT in supporting business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the management and optimization of software assets throughout their lifecycle.
  • Track software licenses, compliance, and utilization.
  • Partner with the team lead to improve data integrity and reporting capabilities within the SAM Pro Asset Management tool.
  • Work on entitlement information in the license workbench.
  • Re-harvest unused licenses to optimize software usage.
  • Collaborate with VMO and GSM to learn about the software ordering process.
  • Participate in process improvement workshops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science (related).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Experience with data analytics.
  • Experience with Power Apps (is a plus).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Availability for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025).
  • Graduation date of December 2025 or later.
  • Interest in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.
  • Willingness to work at the posted job location.

  • Experience with Power Apps.
