About the position

Medcor Inc is seeking a Full-Time IT Level 1 Support Specialist to join our team at our corporate office located in either McHenry, IL or Sioux Falls, SD. This role is essential in providing technical support to both our corporate and remote staff, ensuring that all users have the necessary assistance to resolve their IT-related issues. The position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 8 am to 5 pm, with occasional flexibility required for special projects or urgent tasks. As an IT Level 1 Support Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering onsite and offsite technical assistance to end users of computer systems. This includes responding to user requests and providing resolutions through various communication methods such as phone, in-person, or remote support. You will also assist other department members with daily operations and projects, representing the corporate IT department positively to both internal associates and external customers. Your role will require you to demonstrate responsibility, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions. Your daily tasks will involve configuring and installing hardware, software, and computer peripherals, both locally and remotely. You will set up new and used equipment for deployment, ensuring proper installation of operating systems and software. Additionally, you will be responsible for installing new software releases, system upgrades, and evaluating and installing patches to resolve software-related problems. You will utilize a variety of software applications and tools to diagnose and resolve issues, read technical manuals, and conduct computer diagnostics. Furthermore, you will develop training materials and procedures, and train end users in the proper use of hardware and software. Building and maintaining positive relationships with vendors, clients, and team members will also be a key aspect of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite and offsite level 1 technical assistance to computer system end users.
  • Respond to user requests and provide resolution through phone, in person, or remotely.
  • Assist other department members with daily operations and projects.
  • Represent the corporate IT department positively to internal associates and external customers.
  • Configure/install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and computer peripherals.
  • Setup new and used equipment for deployment to employees.
  • Install new software releases, system upgrades, and evaluate and install patches.
  • Use a wide range of software applications and tools to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Read technical manuals and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems.
  • Develop training materials and procedures, and train end users in the proper use of hardware and software.
  • Arrange for hardware or software service utilizing support agreements with vendors/manufacturers.
  • Prepare evaluations of software or hardware, and recommend improvements or upgrades.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, clients, and team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year or more in IT Support related field.
  • Experience working with Operating Systems, Applications, and Hardware.
  • Fluency in technical terminology with an understanding of the interrelationship of software, hardware, and networked environments.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization, clients, vendors, suppliers, and the general public.
  • Attention to detail in preparation of materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, follow-up, and documentation skills.
  • Resourceful, detail-oriented, and possess great customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Vocational / Technical Training or Associate's Degree in IT Field.
  • Experience in Healthcare IT.
