About the position

The IT Lifecycle Administrator at Texas McCombs University of Texas at Austin is responsible for providing system-level administration and support for the workstation fleet, networking, and security within the Red McCombs School of Business. This role involves managing a primarily Windows environment, ensuring effective deployment and maintenance of software, and implementing information security best practices. The position requires strong customer service skills and the ability to document processes clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the department's workstation fleet in a primarily Windows environment using industry-standard tools.
  • Maintain imaging tools, patch management, software deployment, and licensing management.
  • Deliver advanced-level end-user workstation support.
  • Implement and enforce information security and industry best practices for end-user devices and peripherals.
  • Create and manage workstation images.
  • Provide basic network management and troubleshooting in coordination with the campus-level network support team.
  • Document processes clearly and concisely, ensuring they are audience-focused.
  • Maintain and update accurate information across several systems, including inventory records, knowledge base, and ticketing system.
  • Offer customer application consulting, evaluation, and recommendations.
  • Assist with the management of the Service Desk as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in business/enterprise fleet management of Windows OS in a centrally managed environment.
  • Minimum of three years of experience with OS/software deployments, patching, and maintaining inventory.
  • Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, procedures, and tools for supporting and maintaining macOS.
  • Knowledge of ITSM and ITIL concepts and practices.
  • Process-oriented with excellent documentation skills.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical and operational documentation.
  • Core understanding of information security best practices and networking fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • More than three years of experience.
  • Relevant certifications and professional development education.
  • Tier 2 and 3 desktop support experience.
  • Experience managing a computer lab environment.
  • Proficiency with Jamf.
  • Understanding of PowerShell scripting fundamentals.
  • Linux system management experience.
  • Experience with specific tools, including Code42, ServiceNow, OneDrive/SharePoint/Office 365, Box, VBox/VMware Fusion, and Parallels.
