About the position

The IT Manager III at Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is responsible for overseeing IT customer support operations, managing a team that provides technical support to regional field offices and Out-stationed Worker Program sites. This role involves complex managerial work, including process development, budget management, and ensuring the effective operation of IT systems. The manager will also engage in strategic planning, project management, and staff development, while serving as a liaison with various stakeholders to address technology initiatives and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day administration and operations of local field offices and Out-stationed Worker Program sites.
  • Develop and implement techniques for evaluating local field office activities.
  • Lead and manage projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Plan, develop, and approve schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals.
  • Manage and mentor staff in all aspects of technology operations.
  • Cultivate an environment that fosters employee satisfaction and growth.
  • Coordinate technical issues related to IT cross-function activities.
  • Represent the agency at business meetings, hearings, and conferences.
  • Keep informed of the latest advancements in IT to ensure smooth operations.
  • Function as the acting Director of IT Customer Support Operations in the absence of the Director.

Requirements

  • ITIL Certification
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • 5 years of full-time Information Technology related experience
  • 5 years of supervisory, managerial, professional, or technical experience in IT
  • Experience in recruitment, development, and evaluation of staff activities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Customer service experience
  • Leadership skills
