About the position

The IT Manager at Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) will serve as a strategic partner for the Los Angeles Refinery leadership team, focusing on the application of digital technologies to enhance business performance. This role involves overseeing all local Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) operations, ensuring secure and reliable technology services, and orchestrating end-to-end IT services for the refinery. The IT Manager will also be responsible for managing a team, setting direction, and ensuring employee development and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of a team of IT professionals, providing guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with management to set team goals that align with the organizational vision.
  • Maintain a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Identify technology needs and opportunities in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and security of technology systems.
  • Plan and provide technical leadership for IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
  • Manage the department project portfolio through effective governance and planning processes.
  • Assist in the development and management of the department budget, tracking expenses effectively.
  • Stay updated on technology trends and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop IT policies, procedures, and standards in line with industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of diversified IT experience.
  • 3+ years of experience leading professional staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the energy sector or similar industries.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in IT operations.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.
