About the position

The Software Engineering Manager position is a critical role within a high-growth and innovative IT company located in the Columbus Metropolitan Area, OH. This position is designed for a highly-skilled individual who will provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers. The team will be engaged in tasks that range from basic to moderately complex, requiring a leader who can effectively manage and guide them through various challenges. As the Software Engineering Manager, you will be accountable for decisions that influence the team's resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures. Your role will ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders, identifying and mitigating issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary. You will also provide input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations aimed at improving operational efficiencies and functionality for the team. A key aspect of this role is to create a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members, prioritizing diverse representation within the team. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, as you will be expected to guide and coach your team on approaches to achieve goals aligned with strategic initiatives. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Experience leading teams of technologists.
  • Ability to guide and coach teams on approaches to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives.
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
  • In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems.
  • Practical cloud-native experience.
  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines.

  • Expertise in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture, design across all systems.
  • Experience working at the code level.
