About the position

UMB Fund Services (UMBFS) is a nationally respected investment services provider that offers a broad array of services for mutual funds and alternative investments. The UMBFS Alternative Investments Technical team is responsible for the development and support of applications used within the UMB Fund Services organization. As a mid-level IT Manager, you will lead a software development team composed of software engineers and application architects. Your primary responsibility will be to build and manage enterprise applications for the Alternative Investments area. You will coach team members to adapt to the latest technologies while coordinating with product development, business partners, and other technical teams to create effective solutions. Additionally, you will oversee the day-to-day system operations and support for several business partners, ensuring full operational functionality of those systems while addressing staff and client issues related to system operations. In this role, you will define and execute the technology roadmap for your team, maintaining strong relationships with business partners and serving as the technology expert in business meetings. You will lead solution recommendations through gap analyses and total cost of ownership analyses across various technology options. Your leadership will involve managing the development of team members by providing coaching, setting challenging yet attainable goals, and monitoring their performance to ensure quality outcomes. You will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures for areas of responsibility and endpoint infrastructure support. Participation in the budget process and maintaining budgetary awareness will be essential, as will understanding the risks and impacts to the business while recommending risk mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures for areas of responsibility and endpoint infrastructure support.
  • Participating in the budget process and maintaining budgetary awareness.
  • Understanding the risk and impact to the business while recommending risk mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • At least 8 years of IT work experience.
  • At least 3 years of management, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to build consensus across multiple departments regarding complex solutions and issue resolution.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and supporting obligations.
  • Experience identifying, developing, and initiating innovations and solutions where precedents may not exist.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects for various internal customers.
  • At least 5 years of experience in AWS cloud platforms and services, cloud architecture, design, and development.
  • Experience in various cloud databases, such as AWS Aurora, DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc.
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, etc.
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies and frameworks, such as Kubernetes, Docker, Serverless, Microservices, etc.
  • In-depth background with programming languages and scripting tools, such as Python, Java, C#, PowerShell, etc.
  • Knowledge of system development methodology, fundamental principles of functional and unit testing, web services architecture and implementation, continuous integration tools, and source control tools and processes.
