About the position

As a mid-level IT Manager at UMB Fund Services (UMBFS), you will play a pivotal role in leading a software development team that is responsible for building and managing enterprise applications specifically for the Alternative Investments area. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, as you will be coaching team members to adapt to the latest technologies while ensuring that the team collaborates effectively with product development, business partners, and other technical teams to deliver innovative solutions. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the day-to-day operations of the systems, providing support for various business partners, and ensuring that all systems function optimally. You will also be tasked with addressing staff and client issues related to system operations, making your role crucial in maintaining operational excellence. In this position, you will define and execute the technology roadmap for your team, ensuring that technology solutions align with business objectives. Building strong relationships with business partners will be essential, as you will serve as the technology expert in meetings, articulating the business value of technology solutions. You will lead solution recommendations through gap analyses and total cost of ownership analyses, guiding your team in making informed decisions about technology options. Your leadership will extend to managing the development of team members, providing coaching, setting challenging yet attainable goals, and monitoring their performance to ensure quality outcomes. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures related to your areas of responsibility and endpoint infrastructure support. Participation in the budget process will also be part of your role, requiring you to maintain budgetary awareness and understand the risks and impacts to the business while recommending appropriate risk mitigation strategies. This hybrid role is open to candidates in the Ogden, UT metropolitan area and qualified remote candidates within the US, making it a flexible opportunity for the right individual.

Responsibilities

  • Defining and executing the technology roadmap for the team.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with business partners and serving as the technology expert in business meetings.
  • Leading and driving solution recommendations using gap analyses and total cost of ownership analyses.
  • Managing the development of individuals on the team by providing coaching and timely feedback.
  • Setting challenging yet attainable goals for team members and managing their performance.
  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures for areas of responsibility and endpoint infrastructure support.
  • Participating in the budget process and maintaining budgetary awareness.
  • Understanding the risk and impact to the business while recommending risk mitigation strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • At least 8 years of IT work experience.
  • At least 3 years of management, supervisory, or team lead experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to build consensus across multiple departments.
  • Experience identifying, developing, and initiating innovations and solutions.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects for various internal customers.
  • At least 5 years of experience in AWS cloud platforms and services, cloud architecture, design, and development.
  • Experience in various cloud databases such as AWS Aurora, DynamoDB, MongoDB, etc.
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, etc.
  • Experience with cloud-native technologies and frameworks such as Kubernetes, Docker, Serverless, Microservices, etc.
  • In-depth background with programming languages and scripting tools such as Python, Java, C#, PowerShell, etc.
  • Knowledge of system development methodology, functional and unit testing principles, web services architecture, continuous integration tools, and source control tools.
