About the position

As an IT Manager at Ursa Major, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the IT department, including the Service Desk, Infrastructure & Systems, and datacenter equipment management. This role involves providing strategic direction, technical guidance, and operational support to ensure the reliability and performance of critical IT systems while fostering a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of Service Desk, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of IT support requests.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Service Desk operations.
  • Monitor Service Desk performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage the Service Desk team, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Provide technical leadership to the Infrastructure & Systems team.
  • Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of critical IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Manage the implementation, operation and maintenance of digital systems, including servers, storage systems, networking devices, and databases.
  • Manage the procurement and installation of datacenter equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards related to datacenter infrastructure.
  • Develop and implement the strategy for Service Desk and Infrastructure & Systems, aligning both departments with overall business objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to support business growth and innovation.
  • Manage the budget for Service Desk and Infrastructure & Systems and allocate resources effectively.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to team members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Encourage professional development and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT management, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong technical skills in network administration, server management, and database management.
  • Experience with datacenter infrastructure and operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in IT management, such as ITIL or PMP.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience communicating effectively both written and orally.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into simple explanations.
  • Ability to work with various teams from multiple disciplines on time sensitive issues while effectively prioritize items as necessary.
  • Familiarity with engineering terms and processes.
  • Eagerness to learn and willingness to take on problems without hesitation.
