About the position

The IT Network Analyst III is a critical role within the City of Corpus Christi's Information Technology department, responsible for providing comprehensive support for the organization's network infrastructure and applications. This position encompasses a wide range of duties, including the maintenance of network hardware, installation and configuration of network appliances and servers, and support for network application software. The analyst will design complex network infrastructures, troubleshoot network systems, and perform configuration and maintenance operations. The role also involves planning and designing LAN, WAN, wireless, and VoIP solutions, as well as assessing network risks and developing contingency plans. In this position, the analyst will work with various network switches to connect computers, printers, and servers, understanding the capabilities of both managed and unmanaged switches. The role requires creating networks and configuring complex network ports, as well as advanced switching operations, including Data Center, Nexus, and WLCs. The analyst will also handle Layer 3 switching and core switch configuration, linking computers and networks to the internet through various mediums and circuit types, ensuring optimal and redundant paths. Additional responsibilities include network design and documentation, advanced routing, and participation in special projects. The analyst will utilize network tools and software diagnostics to configure, install, repair, or replace network equipment, supporting the LAN/WAN infrastructure. The position requires collaboration with service desk and change management teams to resolve tasks efficiently, while also providing guidance to other IT Network Analysts. The analyst will lead advanced network design and implementation projects, assist in budget analysis, and maintain current licenses and certifications to ensure technical knowledge and adaptability. Prioritizing tasks and assignments is essential to resolve network communication and infrastructure issues effectively, and the analyst will document and report within the City help desk application, ensuring timely resolution of tasks and issues.

Responsibilities

  • Works with network switches to connect computers, printers, and servers within the City's network
  • Understands the different types of ethernet switches and their capabilities, managed and unmanaged
  • Creates networks and configures complex network ports
  • Handles advanced switching operations including Data Center, Nexus, and WLCs
  • Performs Layer 3 switching and core switch configuration
  • Links computers and networks to the internet through various mediums and circuit types
  • Conducts network design and documentation, advanced routing, and special projects
  • Utilizes network tools and software diagnostics to configure, install, repair, or replace network equipment
  • Supports the LAN/WAN infrastructure
  • Administers the maintenance, support, and design of the City network
  • Works with service desk, change management, and others to resolve tasks and issues
  • Provides guidance to other IT Network Analysts
  • Leads advanced network design and implementation, project management, and product research
  • Administers City internet, security appliance configuration, and call manager systems
  • Builds and operates complex network configurations on core switches and routers
  • Maintains safety and technical knowledge by keeping required licenses and certifications current
  • Prioritizes tasks and assignments to resolve network issues
  • Documents and reports within the City help desk application

Requirements

  • Requires an Associate's degree
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience
  • CCNA Certified Cisco Network Associate required within six (6) months of hire
  • CCNP, CCVP, CCSP, or equivalent certification preferred
  • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
