Full-time - Senior

About the position

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex IT networks, primarily for government users. This role involves diagnosing system problems, configuring and testing new technologies, and ensuring quality assurance and operational reporting. The engineer will also work on cable fabrication and troubleshoot communication lines and equipment, contributing to the daily activities of customer IT networked systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex IT networks.
  • Assist government users in diagnosing system problems and troubleshooting.
  • Collect problem information and recommend fixes.
  • Participate in daily activities of configuration and operation of customer IT networked systems.
  • Provide quality assurance and operational reporting requirements.
  • Configure and test new technology and enhance current systems.
  • Pioneer technology for new systems and work with cable fabrication.
  • Troubleshoot communication lines and equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and a minimum of 12 years of direct experience with telecommunications, integration design, installation, and support.
  • Clearance background investigation must have been adjudicated within the past three years.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
  • Security + certifications in accordance with DOD 8570 instruction.
  • Experience with Wide Area Networks.
  • Routing and switching experience.
  • IP network experience.
  • BoIP and VoIP experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using test equipment: O-scope, Fireberd, transmission test sets.
  • Capable of systems analysis with highly complex technologies.
  • Familiarity with patch panels.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications fundamentals.
  • Ability to be self-reliant.
  • Capability to perform essential technical maintenance activities without direct supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to professionally interact with high-level military officers and civilian officials.
  • Quality assurance experience with both new and upgraded telecommunications systems.
  • Trainer/training experience.
  • Positive service-oriented attitude.
  • Military experience/knowledge of customs and courtesies.
  • Experience with larger enterprise IP networks and related networking equipment.
  • Knowledge of DoD policies and procedures regarding the installation, configuration, and management of Cisco IP Systems.
  • Network + certifications in accordance with DOD 8570 instruction.
  • Experience with the development and presentation of briefings.
  • Microsoft certification - MCSA, MCP, MCSP.
