About the position

The IT Network Engineer II at Rocket Lab is responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of network operations that support the infrastructure for Space System and Launch operations. This role involves ensuring a reliable and secure IT network infrastructure, leading upgrades and maintenance, and championing IT Infrastructure Standards to comply with company policies and improve system reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and operate all network operations for Space System and Launch operations.
  • Provide advice and guidance to support a highly reliable IT network infrastructure.
  • Lead upgrades and maintenance with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Champion IT Infrastructure Standards through the implementation of deployment and management standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Rocket Lab Policies and Cybersecurity standards.
  • Simplify and standardize environment management practices.
  • Automate build and maintenance processes to improve reliability.
  • Ensure system high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Provide clear and concise reporting on network usage and support levels.
  • Document environments and support processes comprehensively.
  • Control costs effectively in network operations.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in IT and a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (6+ years total work experience in IT).
  • 1+ years of experience in a platform-focused technology role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Juniper network switching configuration and management.
  • Knowledge of WAN, SD-WAN, routing, IPSEC, SSL VPNs.
  • Knowledge of DNS or DHCP.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Cisco network switching configuration and management.
  • Familiarity with Fortinet firewall configuration and management.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Configuration Management, Automation, and/or Infrastructure as Code.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks/technology such as ISO 27001, NIST 800-171.
