About the position

SAIC has an immediate opening for a Project Manager with a background in Information Technology (IT) Network Engineering services to oversee the cost, schedule, and performance activities of an Enterprise IT Network Service Provider. The successful applicant will participate within a team of network Systems Engineers and Technical Advisors (SETAs) to oversee the design, delivery, enhancement, and recapitalization of a multi-site environment leveraging Routers, Firewalls, VPNs, and associated technologies/services. Candidates will leverage their background in implementing network infrastructure and provisioning of backbones, CANs/LANs, Access Controls, VLANs, and similar network related solutions to assess the service provider's proposed approaches for solving organizational needs. Customers may require candidates to perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements definition, and interface definition studies to translate requirements into hardware and software specifications. Candidates must be able to effectively quantify specific, detailed information for their recommendations in written and verbal formats (e.g., slide presentations, Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), etc.) Candidates may be called upon to assess Service Provider proposed implementation techniques, assess future mission demand requirements against planned capacity deliveries, assess facility requirements (including floor layout, power cooling, network connectivity), data storage, backup, monitoring, operations systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the cost, schedule, and performance activities of an Enterprise IT Network Service Provider.
  • Participate in a team of network Systems Engineers and Technical Advisors (SETAs) to manage the design, delivery, enhancement, and recapitalization of a multi-site environment.
  • Assess service provider's proposed approaches for solving organizational needs related to network infrastructure.
  • Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements definition, and interface definition studies.
  • Translate requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Prepare program plans, including budget and schedule development.
  • Conduct risk assessments of proposed service provider deliveries.
  • Strategically assess a customer's vision and needs to improve service delivery quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and nine (9) years or more work experience; or a Master's degree and seven (7) years or more work experience; or a PhD or JD and four (4) years or more work experience; applicable work experience of more than eleven (11) years may substitute for a degree.
  • Demonstrated working understanding of Cisco and/or Juniper Operating Systems.
  • Demonstrated working understanding of network integration with physical, virtual, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for delivering clear and concise status updates on multiple activities.
  • Ability to perform requirements analysis, schedule reviews, and cost estimations.
  • Ability to act as a change agent translating customer requirements into service provider tasking.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments of proposed service provider deliveries.

Nice-to-haves

  • Cisco and/or Juniper certification (even if expired) is a plus.
  • PMP and/or Agile certification is a plus, but not required.
  • ITIL certification is a plus, but not required.
