About the position

As an IT Network Security Engineer at ZEISS, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team responsible for enhancing and securing the IT infrastructure across the Americas region. This role involves a comprehensive approach to IT Security engineering, including design, configuration, administration, and project management. You will focus on Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), Internet Access, Data Firewalls, and Data Network infrastructure, ensuring compliance with ZEISS's stringent requirements, procedures, and standards. Your expertise will be crucial in defending against unauthorized access and potential security threats, necessitating a proactive stance in identifying, preparing for, and mitigating such risks. In this position, you will plan and deliver IT Network Security projects that support various ZEISS Segments and Strategic Business Units. You will translate complex business challenges into effective solutions based on Secure Data Network standards. Your responsibilities will include drafting and detailing IT Security and network-related concepts, applying your knowledge of business operations to enhance and maintain IT Security for Communication and Data Network solutions. You will also respond to second-level support service requests and incident escalations, utilizing your IT Security and Data Networking expertise to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Building productive relationships with stakeholders will be essential, as you will need to listen, clarify, and respond effectively to provide tailored IT Security and Networking solutions. You will communicate with users to identify the underlying causes of problems and collaborate with other groups within Regional IT, Global IT, and vendors to address organizational needs. Additionally, you will be responsible for producing documentation of procedures and the implemented IT Security and Network infrastructure, ensuring that knowledge is shared and maintained within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver IT Network Security projects in support of ZEISS Segments and Strategic Business Units, Regional IT and Global IT.
  • Translate business challenges and problems into solutions based on Secure Data Network standards and solutions.
  • Draft, design and detail out IT Security and network related concepts and solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of business operations to implement, enhance, maintain, or repair IT Security for Communication and Data Network solutions.
  • Respond and resolve second level support service request and incident escalations that require IT Security and Data Networking expertise.
  • Perform troubleshooting which may involve previous known and new yet unresolved issues, applying engineering thinking and problem-solving for IT Security.
  • Manage, maintain, evaluate, test, debug and implement IT Security and networking services in support of ZEISS functional areas including finance, manufacturing, materials, marketing, accounting, or human resources.
  • Form productive relationships with BG stakeholders by listening, clarifying, and responding effectively to provide IT Security and Networking solutions or solve issues/problems.
  • Effectively communicate with users to determine the actual nature, or underlying cause, of a problem.
  • Form productive networks with other groups in Regional IT, Global IT, and vendors to address organizational needs.
  • Explain IT Network Security procedures effectively to users and new team members.
  • Produce documentation of procedures and implemented IT Security and Network infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience in LAN/WAN, Internet Access for multi-site organizations.
  • CompTIA Security+ Professional training or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting Cisco Routers, Switches, Firewall equipment is a must.
  • Experience in network, server and infrastructure administration, configuration, deployment and management with focus on security aspects.
  • Experience interacting with ServiceNow / ITSM is a plus.
  • Experience applying project management disciplines.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to coordinate multiple priorities; and good written and oral skills in English language.
  • Ability to use professional concepts and apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to determine appropriate action and obtain solutions.
  • Ability to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethics and a commitment to excellence.
