About the position

The Network Security Engineer position at Dexian is a critical role within the Infrastructure and Operations organization, located in Charlotte, NC. This position is designed for an individual who possesses both technical expertise and engineering skills, enabling them to evolve into a leading subject matter expert in Investor and Advisor themed technology, as well as facilitating the implementation of cloud-based solutions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, start-up-like environment, where they will be responsible for identifying requirements and facilitating the implementation of network security measures while adhering to appropriate change control and release processes. In this role, the Network Security Engineer will be tasked with promoting a hands-on, white-glove customer service experience across all environments. This includes maintaining both on-premises and cloud-based computer networks from a network security perspective, which encompasses managing firewalls, DDoS protection, Network Access Control (NAC), and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). The engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving network security issues, as well as designing and implementing robust network security solutions. Collaboration with project managers will be essential to ensure project tasks are completed effectively, and the engineer will assist in coordinating changes across multiple systems while contributing to the development of policies, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Promote hands-on, white glove customer service experience supporting all environments.
  • Maintain on-prem and cloud-based computer networks from a Network Security perspective (Firewalls, DDoS, NAC, VPN, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve problems, as well as design and implement network security solutions.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers around project tasks.
  • Assist with coordinating changes across multiple systems.
  • Follow and contribute to policies, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or technical institute degree/certificate or equivalent work experience.
  • General understanding of firewall technology both on-premises and cloud.
  • Experience managing Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls highly desired.
  • Knowledge of native firewalls in AWS and Azure is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of network security products such as DDoS, proxy, VPN, firewall orchestration is a plus.
  • Ability to work with developers on firewall rule creation and troubleshoot logs for remediation.
  • Familiarity working with security-related technologies in a regulated environment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills to assist teams in isolating the root cause of incidents and issues.
  • Understanding of Network Security Best Practices.
  • Ability to work independently and progress in a proactive fashion.
  • Agile / Scrum experience is a plus.
