About the position

The IT/Network Technician 2 is responsible for providing advanced technical support and ensuring the health and security of the IT infrastructure. This role involves monitoring various systems, managing helpdesk tickets, and overseeing compliance with backup and disaster recovery procedures. The technician will also supervise junior staff and collaborate with different departments to maintain seamless IT operations.

Responsibilities

  • Review new and existing Helpdesk tickets and perform level 3 support
  • Monitor VEEAM backups, Ubiquiti WiFi, and Office 365 suspicious logins
  • Oversee infrastructure health via LibreNMS and monitor security camera motion events
  • Stay updated on the latest security incidents and vulnerabilities
  • Monitor Sophos antivirus, DUO, FortiCloud logs, and WASABI storage
  • Backup North American firewall configurations
  • Check Active Directory for errors and test/apply Windows updates
  • Manage monthly bills and renewals for IT services
  • Plan for upcoming projects
  • Ensure compliance with backup and disaster recovery procedures
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for IT infrastructure
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure seamless IT operations
  • Supervise and coach the Jr. Systems Admin
  • Maintain documentation and manage network security

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Network Administration or a similar role
  • Experience with Visio for infrastructure documentation
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Familiarity with IT security best practices and incident response
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and systems
  • Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, including VEEAM, Ubiquiti, LibreNMS, Sophos, DUO, FortiCloud, WASABI, and Office 365
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
