About the position

The IT Operations Technician II at WTXL, part of The E.W. Scripps Company, is responsible for supporting the installation and maintenance of employee equipment and systems, including desktop computers, mobile phones, faxes, and printers. This role involves configuring, installing, maintaining, and upgrading computer systems hardware and software, as well as administering and maintaining the security of operating systems. The technician will also provide operational support for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment, ensuring efficient recovery procedures and monitoring of batch processes.

Responsibilities

• Configures, installs, maintains and upgrades computer systems hardware and software.
• Administers and maintains security of operating systems.
• Restores files or systems by designing, writing and implementing backup procedures.
• Provides operational support for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment, such as application servers, database servers, web servers, desktops, printers and storage devices.
• Performs recovery procedures, scheduling and backups, and monitors batch processes.
• Handles mobile phone and hotspot deployments, general support and troubleshooting.
• Supports miscellaneous IT tasks and projects, including on-call support.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• 1 - 3 years of experience in IT operations or related field.
• Experience with basic system administration tools and processes.
• Strong computer networking skills and organizational skills.
• Ability to conform to a high security environment and execute security policies.
