About the position

The IT Operations Technician is an integral part of the Blue Mantis team, responsible for a variety of technical and operational tasks that support our customers, internal departments, and partners. This role involves the meticulous packing and cleaning of IT equipment, including laptops and peripherals, and collaborating with the Configuration team to assist in imaging various laptops and other endpoint devices. The technician will play a crucial role in ensuring that all IT equipment is prepared and configured to meet the needs of our clients efficiently and effectively. In this position, the technician will be responsible for the assembly and configuration of laptops, desktops, and servers. This includes tasks such as installing operating systems, performing warranty repairs, executing firmware and IOS upgrades, and installing Managed Services tools for both contracted and non-contracted customers. Additionally, the technician will manage warehouse operations, which encompass shipping, receiving, inventory management, and the delivery of finished devices. The role also requires performing device preparation at the Configuration center, specifically focusing on imaging and custom configuration of laptops and desktops for onsite installation using various imaging tools. The technician will be tasked with the initial configuration of switches and disk arrays, ensuring that all projects meet the agreed-upon turnaround times for client configuration and installation. Furthermore, the technician will be responsible for the proper cleaning and packaging of laptops to guarantee that all accessories are included for full functionality. Managing the inventory of IT assets and overseeing the shipping and receiving of all IT equipment to ensure timely delivery is also a key responsibility of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for laptop, desktop, and server assembly and configuration.
  • Installation of operating systems, warranty repair, firmware and IOS upgrades, and installation of Managed Services tools for contracted and non-contracted customers.
  • Warehouse management tasks including shipping, receiving, inventory management, and delivery of finished devices.
  • Perform device preparation at Configuration center, specifically imaging and custom configuration of laptops and desktops for onsite installation using various imaging tools.
  • Performing switch and disk array initial configuration.
  • Meet agreed upon turn-around times for client configuration and installation projects.
  • Responsible for proper cleaning & packaging of laptops to ensure that all IT/laptop accessories are included for full functionality of IT equipment.
  • Manage inventory of IT assets such as laptops/desktops & IT peripherals.
  • Manage the shipping/receiving of all IT assets to ensure timely receipt.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of IT experience
  • 1-2 years' experience in PC hardware and networking
  • Knowledge of hardware, operating systems, and networks
  • Ability to troubleshoot and communicate issues effectively
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with clients
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • A+ or Network+ Certification
  • Knowledge of network cabling and termination
  • Ability to multitask
  • Desire to learn new competencies
  • Fluency in Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows 11
