About the position

Tufts Technology Services (TTS) is a university-wide service organization dedicated to providing adaptable and results-driven technology solutions that support Tufts' mission of teaching, learning, research, innovation, and sustainability. The Systems Analyst plays a crucial role in this mission by being responsible for the configuration, integration, implementation, planning, training, and support of the information systems utilized across the Operations Division. This position requires collaboration with the Director of Operations Technology, TTS team members, vendors, and operations staff to enhance the effectiveness of the systems used throughout the Division of Operations. The Systems Analyst is expected to work closely with TTS Security & Privacy, Compliance, Finance, and Operations and Procurement departments to ensure that all functions are updated, supported, and operating correctly within the Operations systems. The role demands a forward-thinking and seasoned analyst who is committed to improving the end-user experience, driving process improvements, fostering collaboration, increasing efficiency, and enhancing reporting and data accessibility. The Systems Analyst will provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot issues, and offer solutions. This includes system production support, analysis, prioritization, and implementation of requested system changes, as well as coordination of software release updates, system testing, and interface enhancements. The analyst will also develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on system usage, manage user permissions, and ensure the integrity of the systems in use. In daily operations, the Systems Analyst will ensure high customer satisfaction and system availability by monitoring system health, working with third-party vendors to troubleshoot issues, and providing front-line client support. They will evaluate issues, assign them appropriately in the ticketing system, and perform quality checks to ensure accuracy in daily processes. Additionally, the analyst will manage small projects related to system improvements and implementations, advising on project plans, budgets, and timelines. This role is essential in fostering a culture of organizational citizenship and continuous learning, contributing to a fulfilling and positive work experience for all staff at Tufts University.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot issues, and offer solutions.
  • Provide system production support including analysis, prioritization, and implementation of requested system changes.
  • Coordinate software release updates, system testing, and interface enhancements.
  • Develop and execute test plans and perform software quality assurance tasks.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on system usage.
  • Manage and administer applications to ensure appropriate use and system integrity.
  • Identify problems and issues as they arise and discuss methods to confirm resolution.
  • Participate in the development of workflows, system configurations, and change documentation.
  • Manage user permissions and access for systems.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and system availability by monitoring system health.
  • Work with third-party vendors to escalate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Provide front-line client support for systems and evaluate issues in the ticketing system.
  • Create and run reports for data requests and complete end-user access requests.
  • Manage small projects related to system improvements and implementations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and five years working in an information technology support role or technical setting.
  • Highly experienced with application administration and support.
  • Experience with managing hardware and IoT devices.
  • Experience managing small projects including vendor coordination.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to build working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure in a busy environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to system issues.
  • Knowledge of compliance and security regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics or related field.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with database technologies such as SQL, Oracle, MySQL, etc.
  • Experience with report building tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Strong understanding of application setup and device management.
  • Experience with supporting building automation systems and related technology.
  • Experience with supporting food inventory and management systems.
