About the position

The IT/OT Solution Architect role at Hitachi Energy focuses on designing and implementing integrated solutions that enhance connectivity between manufacturing equipment and IT systems. This position is crucial for improving operational efficiency on the shop floor by ensuring seamless data flow between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT).

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the architectural framework for machine connectivity and shop floor devices.
• Design and implement solutions that connect industrial machines to IT systems for real-time data exchange.
• Establish and enforce connectivity standards and protocols for shop floor devices.
• Collaborate with production teams, IT, engineering, and external vendors to deliver comprehensive solutions.
• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies related to machine connectivity, IoT, and automation.
• Implement security measures to protect data and systems, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity regulations.
• Create and maintain detailed architectural documentation, including system diagrams and data flow charts.
• Lead projects from conception to deployment, managing timelines and stakeholder communications.
• Provide expert support for resolving connectivity issues between machines and IT systems.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in IT/OT solution architecture focusing on machine connectivity and shop floor devices.
• Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and IoT frameworks.
• Familiarity with networking principles and cybersecurity best practices in an industrial context.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Candidate must already have work authorization to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
