About the position

The IT Purchasing Specialist III at Akkodis is responsible for managing the procurement of high-value technology products and services, including hardware, software, and maintenance agreements. This role involves negotiating with vendors to secure favorable terms and prices, ensuring compliance with company policies, and managing vendor performance to mitigate risks. The position requires extensive knowledge of purchasing methods, contract management, and vendor relations, making it critical for the organization's operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Apply extensive knowledge of technology products purchasing, laws, policies, regulations, practices, purchasing methods and procedures.
  • Independently source business critical, high risk, high dollar and/or high visibility technology products and services.
  • Review and analyze purchase requests for accuracy and compliance to policy.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to recommend vendors for high visibility products and services.
  • Monitor delivery of purchased items and communicate status to customers.
  • Reconcile problems during the purchasing process, including returns of incorrect or defective goods.
  • Negotiate with vendors to reach agreements in the best interest of the organization.
  • Manage vendor performance to control costs and drive service excellence.
  • Review contracts and assist legal in understanding business needs for contract review.
  • Pursue training and development opportunities to continuously build knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in a related field required.
  • 10+ years IT purchasing experience.
  • Experience negotiating software, hardware and service agreements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical, assessment and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ServiceNow a plus.
  • Experience developing/documenting corporate policies and procedures.
