About the position

The Data, Analytics, and AI Engineering team (DnAi) is a global capability within the Mercer Tech organization. Our mission is to enable business data strategy through strategic partnerships across business, operations, and technology teams, bringing best-in-class Data, Analytics, and AI engineering capabilities to solve business-critical problems and opportunities. The DnAi team creates, deploys, and maintains data infrastructure and capabilities that differentiate our businesses and delight our clients. We are a collaborative group who have fun working together to create 'move the needle' data outcomes for Mercer's health, wealth, and career practices. This role will be based in Louisville, KY. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage technical data projects using Agile methodologies, ensuring project goals and deliverables are met from initiation to completion.
  • Develop and maintain Agile project plans, including sprint backlogs, user stories, and task boards, while coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals and strategies, while identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Monitor project progress using Agile metrics, track key performance indicators, and provide regular status updates to stakeholders.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting effective communication and continuous improvement through Agile practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Data Portfolio Manager or in a similar role, with a proven track record of delivering complex data projects using Agile methodologies.
  • 3+ years of experience in data management, data infrastructure, data governance, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles and tools (Modern Data Tech Stack), along with proficiency in Agile project management software (ADO, JIRA, etc.).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple Agile projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in HR-related data domains such as compensation, global employee mobility, and talent management.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) and Agile certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster) are preferred.
  • Master's degree in information technology, business administration, or a related field.
  • Experience with AI and data visualization tools, along with direct report people management experience.
  • Proven experience in data strategy development and facilitation.
