About the position

The IT Product Manager at National Grid is responsible for driving the development and release of innovative products, features, and services within the IT & Digital organization. This role involves leading squads, managing the product backlog, and ensuring the delivery of the product roadmap while effectively communicating with stakeholders and promoting agile practices. The position is crucial for contributing to the US Electric Plan Value Stream team and requires a focus on customer needs and value delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead squads and own the product backlog to deliver the roadmap.
  • Inspire squads to achieve the product vision by communicating the product roadmap and strategy.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on the roadmap, making technical and design trade-offs.
  • Promote agile working practices and partner with engineering and design teams.
  • Bring the customer voice to the conversation and ensure value delivery to customers.
  • Work with strategic design to understand user personas, pain points, and journeys.
  • Provide insights into product, technology, and market trends.
  • Develop fully constructed feature lists, user stories, and roadmaps.
  • Gather and manage product feedback through surveys, concept testing, and analytics tools.
  • Monitor and report on product OKRs.
  • Lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to scope, design, concept test, and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Assist with the development of business cases and operating plans.
  • Assist in developing materials to communicate progress to executives.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of product management experience.
  • Experience delivering a full feature or product through collaboration with Design and Engineering.
  • Good understanding of agile development methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
  • Desire to build products and services that customers will love.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and storytelling skills.
  • Capacity for self-motivation, independent initiative, and creative problem-solving.
