About the position

The IT Product Owner for the Pharmaceutical sector will play a crucial role in supporting the biopharma business by managing complex products and collaborating closely with engineering teams. This position requires a candidate with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Product Owner, specifically in environments that involve clinical trials. The ideal candidate will not only have experience working with clinical teams but will also have actively engaged with users and their processes to ensure that the product meets their needs effectively. In this role, the Product Owner will be responsible for defining and prioritizing product features in collaboration with the Product Manager and business partners. They will create and maintain the product backlog, working closely with development teams to refine and estimate backlog items. The candidate will also be responsible for the creation, review, and refinement of User Stories, ensuring that they meet a Definition of Ready. Proactive communication regarding status, risks, and product delivery will be essential to ensure successful outcomes. The Product Owner will serve as the primary point of contact for development teams, clarifying requirements, answering questions, and providing technical guidance. They will ensure the timely and successful delivery of product features by defining acceptance criteria, facilitating quality and acceptance tests, and validating product quality. Managing stakeholder expectations through regular updates and addressing concerns will also be a key responsibility. Additionally, the Product Owner will need to have a deep understanding of customer data within the global system landscape and how various components interact with each other. Continuous improvement of the product will be a focus, requiring collaboration with Product Managers, Architects, and engineers to monitor and analyze product performance, security, and cost measures. The role also includes acting as the System Custodian for customer master data and educating stakeholders on product capabilities and insights.

Responsibilities

  • Define and prioritize product features in collaboration with the Product Manager and business partners
  • Create and maintain the product backlog, working closely with the development teams to refine and estimate backlog items
  • Responsible for the creation, review and refinement of User Stories and ensuring that they meet a Definition of Ready
  • Facilitate proactive status, risk, communication management to ensure successful delivery of product
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the development teams, clarifying requirements, answering questions, and providing technical guidance
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of product features, defining acceptance criteria, facilitating quality and acceptance tests, and validating product quality
  • Manage stakeholder expectations by communicating product updates, progress, changes and addressing concerns or feedback
  • Learn and have a deep understanding of the details of the customer data in the global system landscape
  • Have a deep understanding on how the components of the landscape interact with each other (via automated and/or manual processes)
  • Continuously seek opportunities for product improvement, closely collaborating with the Product Managers, Architects, other Product owners, engineers to monitor and analyze product performance, security, and cost measures, and identify areas for optimization
  • Act as the System Custodian for customer master data
  • Educate stakeholders on product capabilities and insights.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Product Owner experience with complex products
  • Clinical Trial experience, actively engaged with users and their processes
  • Technical depth to own stories and work with development teams
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to brainstorm and innovate as the product owner, considering market needs and new features

Nice-to-haves

  • Pharmaceutical or Laboratory experience
  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
