About the position

Our client is seeking an experienced Product Owner to support new experiences within their biopharma business. This role is 100% remote and requires a candidate with a strong background in product ownership, particularly in complex product environments. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a Product Owner, with a proven track record of owning and managing complex products. This position demands not only a deep understanding of clinical trial processes but also active engagement with users to ensure their needs are met effectively. The Product Owner will work closely with engineering teams, necessitating a solid technical foundation. Candidates should be familiar with concepts such as APIs, data flow, and the technical services required for product development. Experience with tools like Jira and Confluence is essential for managing the product backlog and facilitating communication between teams. In this role, the Product Owner will be responsible for defining and prioritizing product features in collaboration with the Product Manager and business partners. They will create and maintain the product backlog, ensuring that user stories are well-defined and meet the necessary criteria for development. The successful candidate will also facilitate proactive communication regarding project status, risks, and stakeholder expectations, ensuring that product features are delivered on time and meet quality standards. Additionally, the Product Owner will act as the primary point of contact for development teams, providing technical guidance and clarifying requirements. They will continuously seek opportunities for product improvement, collaborating with Product Managers, Architects, and engineers to monitor product performance and identify areas for optimization. This role requires a proactive approach to educating stakeholders on product capabilities and insights, ensuring that the product aligns with market needs and client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Define and prioritize product features in collaboration with the Product Manager and business partners
  • Create and maintain the product backlog, working closely with the development teams to refine and estimate backlog items
  • Responsible for the creation, review and refinement of User Stories and ensuring that they meet a Definition of Ready
  • Facilitate proactive status, risk, communication management to ensure successful delivery of product
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the development teams, clarifying requirements, answering questions, and providing technical guidance
  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of product features, defining acceptance criteria, facilitating quality and acceptance tests, and validating product quality
  • Manage stakeholder expectations by communicating product updates, progress, changes and addressing concerns or feedback
  • Learn and have a deep understanding of the details of the customer data in the global system landscape
  • Have a deep understanding on how the components of the landscape interact with each other (via automated and/or manual processes)
  • Continuously seek opportunities for product improvement, closely collaborating with the Product Managers, Architects, other Product owners, engineers to monitor and analyze product performance, security, and cost measures, and identify areas for optimization
  • Act as the System Custodian for customer master data
  • Educate stakeholders on product capabilities and insights.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Product Owner experience, particularly with complex products
  • Clinical Trial experience, actively engaged with users and their processes
  • Ability to own stories and work with a development technical team, with technical depth
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to brainstorm ideas and innovate as the owner of the product
  • Pharmaceutical/Laboratory experience is ideal; LIMS experience is a plus.
