About the position

The IT Program Manager is responsible for managing a program of multiple interdependent projects within Henry Ford Health. This role provides a single point of accountability for the program, overseeing all aspects throughout the project lifecycles to ensure completion within defined scope, quality, time, and cost constraints. The IT Program Manager leads multi-disciplinary teams and ensures accurate resource allocation while driving program success through effective communication and problem resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and implements program definitions, schedules, budgets, and objectives for multiple interdependent projects.
  • Prepares detailed statements of work and gains concurrence and approval from stakeholders regarding various project aspects.
  • Participates in delivery assurance reviews to ensure adherence to project management policies and procedures.
  • Manages and oversees the organization and performance of certain functional areas and the activities of principals, advisors, and team members.
  • Provides staff management and guidance with an understanding and following of established company policies and procedures.
  • Manages and ensures delivery of projects/programs to meet client and company expectations and needs.
  • Creates, recommends, and implements project/program improvements to meet established objectives.
  • Participates with senior management in developing new business proposals.
  • Assists in the development of operating and personnel budgets.
  • Monitors spending for adherence to budget plans and develops recommended variances.
  • Coordinates and communicates with other managers to leverage resources and discuss solutions to problems.
  • Develops processes with senior management for leveraging and using resources to meet organizational needs.
  • Investigates and resolves matters of significance as appropriate.
  • Manages and organizes project and task workloads and selects individuals most qualified for assignments.
  • Engages and maintains written and verbal communications with the customer, management, and staff to ensure program is delivered on time and within budget and/or contractual obligations.
  • Drives the program and projects to ensure critical issues/dependencies are identified, resolved, or escalated.
  • Capable of getting into technical or functional details of program or project to better understand and help resolve issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology, engineering, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of project management experience.
  • Seven (7) years project management experience in a Healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience working with a project management methodology.
  • Experience working with delivery assurance principles and appropriate procedures relevant to the area.
  • Experience working with techniques and approaches related to the architecture, development, integration, and deployment of project phases.
  • Experience in IT system implementations and/or system maintenance activities.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with healthcare IT systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
