About the position

The IT Program Manager V at BCforward is responsible for maximizing the value of a product by defining its vision and roadmap. This role involves prioritizing stories in the product backlog and effectively communicating these priorities to both stakeholders and the development team. The Program Manager will work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and collaborate with the Product Manager in a scaled Agile model to ensure alignment with the strategic direction of the business or technology domain. The individual in this position will possess a working knowledge of the product and a basic understanding of the relevant business or technology domain. With some guidance, they will create the vision and roadmap for the product, ensuring it aligns with the strategic goals of the organization. The Program Manager will communicate the product vision and roadmap to stakeholders and the team, ensuring that everyone is on the same page regarding the product's direction. Additionally, the Program Manager will collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and problems, creating and prioritizing work for one team. They will learn to collaborate with cross-functional teams and, with some guidance, create and prioritize stories in the product backlog. The role also involves refining stories with the team to ensure there are enough "ready" stories to load the next 1-2 sprints. The Program Manager will review and accept stories, making on-the-spot decisions regarding scope and requirements. This position is an individual contributor role that works in partnership with the team to ensure optimum value is obtained through technology and a deep understanding of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Define the vision and roadmap for the product.
  • Prioritize stories in the product backlog and communicate this to stakeholders and the development team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and problems.
  • Create and prioritize work for one team.
  • Refine stories with the team to ensure readiness for upcoming sprints.
  • Review and accept stories, making on-the-spot decisions on scope and requirements.
  • Work in partnership with the team to maximize value through technology.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in IT program management or related field.
  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and tools, particularly Jira.
  • Certified Scrum Master certification is required.
  • Experience in requirements gathering and stakeholder management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the banking sector or related industries.
  • Familiarity with scaled Agile frameworks.
