About the position

The IT Programmer / Analyst I will provide both technical and functional support for the University's ERP system and its associated solutions. This hybrid role combines technical expertise and functional skills to modernize outdated processes through coding and the strategic utilization of underused software across the campus. The position requires a quick learner who can adapt to various tasks and collaborate effectively with end-users.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain programming code using tools such as SQL, Perl, Java, PHP, C++, and JSON.
  • Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of ERP (Banner) database structures.
  • Design, develop, test, and debug both standard and complex SQL queries for the Oracle database.
  • Apply technical skills to develop and troubleshoot existing code.
  • Collaborate with end-users to gather requirements and act as a liaison between the programming team and the user community.
  • Provide guidance and best practices on the use of existing systems.
  • Manage and monitor the ticketing system (Team Dynamix) related to Enterprise Applications, proposing solutions and time estimates as needed.
  • Partner with the ITS Trainer to create 'How To' documentation for end-users.
  • Conduct comprehensive research to identify solutions for existing issues, presenting findings to the Enterprise Application team and ITS management.
  • Participate in special projects and additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Four years of experience with enterprise applications in a higher education setting (preferred).
  • Proficiency in SQL (Oracle) is essential.
  • Experience with Ellucian's Banner system is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with a track record of setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Capacity to work independently on multiple assignments while collaborating effectively within the Enterprise Applications team.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and personal development.
  • An understanding of how enrollment management and student information systems operate.
  • Ability to maintain composure and a sense of urgency when addressing issues.
  • Understanding of the role technology plays in supporting the University's strategic initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional enterprise applications, including Argos and Document Management.
  • Competence in using the University's ticketing system to monitor and resolve technical issues.
