About the position

The IT Project Manager within DSC Information Management (IM) is responsible for the successful execution of IM projects. This role involves managing the entire project lifecycle from requirements gathering to project completion, including creating and maintaining project plans, schedules, and communication strategies. The IT Project Manager will oversee a portfolio of projects and ensure they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This position requires a strong understanding of project management methodologies, particularly Agile, and the ability to lead teams effectively in a fast-paced environment. The IT Project Manager will work closely with various stakeholders, including team members, management, and external partners, to ensure that project goals align with organizational objectives and that all deliverables meet quality standards. In addition to project management responsibilities, the IT Project Manager will conduct requirements gathering workshops, document requirements, and perform systems analysis to evaluate design alternatives for new applications and enhancements to existing systems. The role also includes maintaining comprehensive documentation to guide project execution and ensuring that all project activities are communicated effectively to stakeholders. The IT Project Manager will be expected to lead Agile teams, facilitate sprint meetings, and maintain project roadmaps and backlogs, ensuring that all team members are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project plans using Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), task dependencies, schedules, and critical path analysis.
  • Collaborate with DSC IM team members to define, estimate, and assign tasks, monitor progress, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
  • Utilize agile methodologies to lead projects, including facilitating sprint meetings and maintaining system roadmaps, project plans, and backlogs.
  • Collect high-level requirements from the Product Owner and translate them into actionable user stories with defined acceptance criteria.
  • Conduct requirements gathering workshops and prototyping sessions.
  • Document requirements in a format appropriate for the project management methodology in use.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive requirements documentation to guide project execution.
  • Perform systems analysis to develop and evaluate systems design alternatives for new applications, enhancements to existing systems, and system integration.
  • Assist in the development of data models, interface element mapping, and systems testing as needed.
  • Lead Agile teams, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Communicate project status, issues, and risks to the project team and management.
  • Maintain a portfolio of existing and potential projects for DSC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of IT Project Management experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years leading Agile development teams.
  • Minimum of 5 years in requirements gathering, workshop facilitation, and documentation.
  • Minimum of 5 years in systems analysis, design, testing, and integration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MS Project.
