About the position

The IT Project Manager (HCM) at Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is responsible for supporting the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems, specifically the Oracle PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) System. This role involves collaborating with various business units to analyze their information needs, providing operational process analysis, and proposing technology and business process improvements. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management skills and a deep understanding of enterprise application systems, particularly in the context of human resources and payroll processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analysis of existing operations processes to input in proposals for new systems and/or enhancement of existing systems.
  • Incorporate project management life cycle methodologies including scope, schedule, risks, and budget of key projects and deliverables.
  • Apply understanding of business and leverage best practices, contextualizing impacts and identifying implications of problems/issues/events on business processes.
  • Assist users by troubleshooting/solving various functional/technical issues with Enterprise business applications, recommending and implementing solutions to improve processes and create efficiencies.
  • Track project-related deadlines and manage associated communications.
  • Develop and document detailed requirement specifications, functional documents, use cases, and test plans for business and development teams; translate and document business requirements for IT staff; conduct training for end users and development team.
  • Partner with other IT members and various business areas in translating business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Contribute to administration and ongoing maintenance of enterprise applications.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as requested.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of information systems.
  • Serve as staff on a variety of boards, commissions, and committees; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence.
  • Provide responsible staff assistance to the Manager, Business Systems Applications.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Four (4) years of demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating, and supporting enterprise application systems, including one year of hands-on experience with ERP or EAM functional application systems.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft HCM, specifically in Core HR, Benefits, Time and Labor, and Payroll processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage large projects.
