About the position

The IT Project Manager I position at Truist Bank is a full-time role focused on managing multiple strategic investments within the Consumer Indirect Home Improvement Lending sector. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, adept at managing numerous smaller critical projects simultaneously while ensuring that all initiatives are progressing smoothly. This role requires a strong understanding of Scrum methodologies and agile principles, as the team is transitioning towards these frameworks. The Project Manager will oversee projects from initiation through to completion, working closely with key stakeholders, including senior leaders and business unit relationship managers, to define project scope, vision, and approach to meet business needs and achieve defined objectives. In this role, the Project Manager will be responsible for documenting project requirements, prioritizing tasks, and executing plans to mitigate potential risks. Essential duties include providing leadership in managing day-to-day program/project elements such as project vision, financials, scope, quality, schedule, resourcing, vendor management, dependencies, risks, status reporting, stakeholder engagement, business readiness/change management, and value realization. The Project Manager will also work cross-functionally to solve problems, implement changes, and ensure professional communication among project stakeholders. The position requires managing projects through their lifecycle, documenting project charters, roles, tasks, and measures of success. The Project Manager will evaluate progress and quality, manage issue resolution, and take corrective actions as necessary. Adherence to corporate policies and processes is crucial, as is the proactive development of innovative approaches, risk mitigation strategies, quality control, and continuous improvement. Feedback regarding the work performance of team members will also be part of the responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in managing critical day-to-day program/project elements including project vision/objectives, financials, scope, quality, schedule, resourcing, vendor management, dependencies, risks, status reporting, stakeholder engagement, business readiness/change management, and value realization.
  • Work cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes, ensuring appropriate and professional communication among project stakeholders.
  • Manage projects through the project lifecycle, documenting the project charter, roles, tasks, and measures of success.
  • Evaluate progress and quality, manage issue resolution, and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to BB&T Project Office and other applicable Corporate policies and processes.
  • Proactively develop innovative approaches, risk mitigation strategies, quality control, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide feedback to group managers regarding the work performance of members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or technology-related field, or equivalent education and related training.
  • Six years of project management experience with increasing complexity of projects and level of responsibilities within a professional environment, including eight years of applicable business experience.
  • Knowledge in software development lifecycle in an enterprise environment.
  • Goal-oriented and action-focused.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
  • Objective, transparent, fact-based, and value-focused communication style.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently toward goals in a complex, diverse environment with multiple and changing demands.
  • Proven ability to direct the efforts of others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) and advancing towards Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Three years of financial services-related experience managing large complex enterprise program initiatives.
