About the position

As a Software Project Manager I, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of software solutions from conception to delivery. This position requires close collaboration with customers, software consultants, and developers to ensure that all project specifications are met and that the software realization process is executed smoothly. You will be responsible for preparing detailed software solution concepts, managing customer communications, and ensuring that all tasks are completed within the project lifecycle. Your role will also involve creating internal documentation, preparing test plans, and participating in factory acceptance testing. You will coordinate with various engineering teams and provide support to project implementation departments, ensuring that customer-specific software documents are continuously updated. Additionally, you will report on project status and any deviations from the original scope to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication throughout the project.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for customer communication and clarification of details.
  • Reviews technical functional specifications.
  • Creates internal documents for project-executing departments.
  • Prepares test plans for factory tests and customer-specific acceptance tests.
  • Participates in factory acceptance testing and internal testing.
  • Responsible for systems site implementation, including customer training and acceptance tests.
  • Facilitates and addresses customer questions, integration, and interfacing issues.
  • Coordinates, participates in, and plans meetings with mechanical, hardware, and electrical engineers.
  • Provides support to project-implementation departments such as Planning, Development, Software Quality Assurance, and Commissioning.
  • Ensures continuous updating of customer-specific software documents.
  • Reports software-related project status to project management, senior leadership, and customers, tracking timelines for software planning, development, testing, and commissioning.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ years of intralogistics automation software and process design experience.
  • 2+ years of warehouse operation and automation experience (preferred).
  • Beginner level knowledge of intralogistics, automated storage systems, and understanding of complex processes.
  • Beginner level knowledge of intralogistics/automation software architecture (WMS, WCS, SRC), interface communication, programming, databases, and data structures.
  • Beginner level knowledge of inventory strategies commonly deployed in warehousing processes.
  • Beginner level knowledge of picking technologies such as automated storage systems, goods-to-person, voice, PTL, A-frames, unit sorters, and different methods of deployment of each technology.
  • Beginner level understanding of system components of KNAPP Group (function, software, hardware).
  • Beginner level understanding of complex processes in the workflow of customers.
  • Beginner level understanding of what is required to integrate KNAPP systems into customer environments.
  • Beginner to intermediate computer skills (MS Office, DevOps, KNAPP-internal tools).
  • Beginner level understanding of KANBAN and Agile methodology.
  • Language skills (English mandatory, another language beneficial).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with software deployment in a warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
