About the position

The IT Project Manager II will play a crucial role in leading and managing iterative product development projects within a hybrid work environment in Portland, OR. This position requires a seasoned professional with at least 5 years of experience in project management, particularly in the utilities sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that projects align with business goals and objectives while overseeing multiple agile teams, which may include geographically diverse members both onsite and offshore. Effective coordination, communication, and collaboration are essential to keep projects on track and meet stakeholder expectations. In this role, the IT Project Manager will engage in overall planning and cross-functional coordination, ensuring that all team members are aligned and informed. Strong leadership and communication skills are paramount, as the project manager will need to facilitate stakeholder engagement, present program strategies, and coordinate progress updates. The position also involves risk and impediment mitigation, budget management, and the use of project management tools such as JIRA to track project milestones and deliverables. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing product development initiatives, particularly those focused on the digitization of utility line operations. They will work closely with a team of 20 professionals, including Business Analysts, Data Engineers, API Engineers, UI Engineers, and Product Owners, to drive project success. The first few weeks will focus on setting up the roadmap and program milestones, engaging stakeholders, and planning the budget effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage iterative product development projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Oversee multiple agile teams, including geographically diverse teams both onsite and offshore, ensuring effective coordination, communication, and collaboration.
  • Engage in overall planning, cross-functional coordination, and stakeholder engagement to keep the project on track.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and present program strategies and updates.
  • Coordinate progress tracking and manage risks and impediments effectively.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in IT project management, preferably in the utilities sector.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to manage teams and stakeholders effectively.
  • Experience with project management tools, particularly JIRA.
  • Ability to oversee multiple agile teams and ensure effective collaboration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in risk and dependencies management.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Proficiency in project management tools including JIRA.
  • PMP and Scrum Master certifications are preferred but not required.
