About the position

The IT Project Manager II at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is responsible for leading and managing multiple IT projects that aim to improve patient outcomes by enhancing access to innovative care and clinical resources. This role involves collaborating with IT leadership and various stakeholders to prioritize and execute critical technology projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. The position requires a strong background in project management, business analysis, and change management, particularly in a technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of project scope, schedule, and budget for multiple projects.
  • Manage and communicate key performance indicators for project cost, scope, and timeline.
  • Coordinate work intake, project resourcing, and facilitate the end-to-end project lifecycle for multiple cross-functional projects within the IT department.
  • Partner closely with IT leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams to develop and implement high-quality IT solutions using appropriate methodologies (e.g., waterfall, agile).
  • Collaborate with technical and functional teams to build practical implementation plans for retiring or upgrading legacy systems and reducing technical debt.
  • Drive planning, organization, and resolution of complex project issues, identifying and mitigating key risks across a suite of project and operational efforts.
  • Use a mix of techniques to hold project teams accountable and meet key deliverables.
  • Flex communication style for effective stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years IT project management experience.
  • Experience with project management tools, methodologies, and best practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of technical project management experience in situations of increasing complexity.
  • Proven technical project management skillset based on industry standard practices (PMI, ITIL, Scrum, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical abilities, translating business needs into requirements, generating alternatives, and evaluating quantitative factors to select the best solution.
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to influence others by negotiating and building cohesiveness across diverse individual skills and styles.
  • Skilled in prioritization and risk management.
