About the position

The IT Project Manager II at Truist Bank is responsible for overseeing multiple high-priority projects and business unit programs that require considerable resources and high levels of integration. This role focuses on ensuring that projects are documented, prioritized, and executed to meet program and project requirements, with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. The Project Manager will manage program commitments, resolve ambiguities and issues, and maintain effective communication with sponsors, stakeholders, and management, including senior leaders and executives. The position requires providing vision and strategy to meet business needs and defined objectives while interfacing with all areas affected by the project, including end users, business stakeholders, support functions, and vendors. The Project Manager will ensure adherence to quality standards and established policies and processes throughout the project lifecycle. Key responsibilities include providing leadership in managing multiple large-scale high-risk projects, facilitating project charters, defining project objectives, managing financials, scope, metrics, quality, schedule, resourcing, vendor management, and risk management. The Project Manager will ensure smooth project progression by effectively managing project plans, phase gate reviews, change requests, and stakeholder status reporting. They will also be responsible for mentoring and coaching team members, developing quality business relationships, and proactively developing innovative approaches and risk mitigation strategies. The role spans across the corporation, impacting multiple lines of business with a budget impact ranging from $10 million to $100 million and timelines that can extend from one to five years.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple high-priority projects and business unit programs.
  • Ensure projects are documented, prioritized, and executed to meet program/project requirements.
  • Manage program commitments and resolve ambiguity and issues.
  • Provide vision and strategy to meet business needs and defined objectives.
  • Interface with all areas affected by the project including end users, business stakeholders, support functions, and vendors.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and established policies and processes.
  • Provide leadership in managing multiple and/or large scale high-risk projects.
  • Define and manage the project plan, phase gate reviews, change requests, and stakeholder status reporting.
  • Evaluate progress and quality, manage issue resolution process, and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Develop quality business relationships to anticipate and address client needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or technology-related field, or equivalent education and related training.
  • Ten years of experience in increasingly complex project management, including eight years of applicable business experience.
  • Knowledge in software development lifecycle in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience as a steward over programs/project investments including delivery of multi-year program investments.
  • Goal-oriented, action-focused, executive level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently toward goals in a complex, diverse environment with multiple and changing demands.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Outstanding record of project management success.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Three years of financial services-related project experience.
