About the position

The IT Project Manager II is responsible for delivering business outcomes from projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and within scope according to business priorities. This role involves managing project teams, tracking project status and budget, and being accountable for the success of multiple projects, typically ranging from 500 to 1500 hours in size and costing between $75,000 to $200,000. The position requires proactive management of project risks and adherence to project methodology compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and deliver projects on time, within budget, and within scope.
  • Track project status and budget throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project teams to mitigate issues and risks.
  • Define and create project plans for prioritization and implementation.
  • Evaluate trade-offs between project size, complexity, cost, urgency, risk, and stakeholder value.
  • Partner with business sponsors to define success metrics and criteria.
  • Build, lead, and coach multiple project teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • Facilitate operational checkpoint activities throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Assess and resolve high priority project risks as they are encountered.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to project methodology compliance standards.
  • Update relevant business stakeholders on project status.
  • Ensure all projects meet success parameters and ROI targets stated in the business case.
  • Perform project prioritization planning/reporting to effectively utilize resources.
  • Assemble project plans and teamwork assignments, direct and monitor work efforts daily, identify resource needs, perform quality reviews, and escalate issues appropriately.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in strategic planning, implementation, and systems integrations.
  • Experience within Logistics, preferably Third Party Logistics, Warehousing, and/or Transportation.
  • PMI certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with project and portfolio management tools (Visio, MS Project, Clarity, Workfront, etc.).
  • Familiarity with multiple project management methodologies.
  • Experience with enterprise financial management systems, human capital management systems, HighJump, Blue Yonder, and/or MercuryGate is a plus.
  • Experience in establishing a product strategy and roadmap.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with modern networking, software, and firmware technologies and architectures.
