About the position

The IT Project Manager (Information Systems Specialist 8) position at the Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS) is a full-time role focused on leading and managing software application development projects. The successful candidate will provide expert leadership to multiple IT project teams, ensuring projects are completed successfully with high customer satisfaction. This role requires balancing competing priorities while fostering a collaborative and diverse work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple IT project teams in requirements analysis, systems analysis and design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Provide project management leadership, standards, and methodologies for IT projects and initiatives.
  • Manage project artifacts such as project charters, communication plans, schedules, change and risk management plans, and resources.
  • Organize, oversee, lead, and monitor the progress of multi-disciplinary work teams composed of DCBS divisions and stakeholders.
  • Manage the scope, schedules, risks, changes, budgets, and timelines for all aspects of assigned IT projects.

Requirements

  • Seven years of information systems experience in professional project management of IT projects, including leading projects from initiation to closure.
  • Experience managing software application development projects based on software application development methodologies.
  • An associate degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or completion of a two-year accredited vocational training program in IT, along with five years of relevant experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field with three years of relevant experience, or a master's degree in the same fields with one year of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management practices and ability to create foundational project artifacts.
  • Proven success managing software application development projects through the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Adept at recognizing and anticipating emerging project risks and business priorities.
