About the position

The IT Project Manager (Information Systems Specialist 8) is responsible for leading and managing software application development projects within the Department of Consumer and Business Services (DCBS). This role requires a strong focus on project management practices, ensuring successful project delivery while maintaining high customer satisfaction. The position emphasizes collaboration, diversity, and teamwork, aiming to achieve desired business outcomes through effective leadership and management of IT project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert leadership to guide and manage multiple IT project teams in requirements analysis, systems analysis and design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Provide project management leadership, standards, and methodologies to information technology projects and initiatives.
  • Manage project artifacts such as project charters, communication plans, schedules, change and risk management plans, and resources for each assigned project.
  • Organize, oversee, lead, and monitor the progress of multi-disciplinary work teams composed of DCBS divisions and stakeholders.
  • Manage the scope, schedules, risks, changes, budgets, and timelines for all aspects of each assigned information technology project.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of information systems experience in professional project management of information technology projects, including leading projects from initiation to closure.
  • An associate degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND 5 years of relevant experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • A master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management practices and ability to create foundational project artifacts.
  • Proven success managing software application development projects through Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Adept at recognizing and anticipating emerging project risks and business priorities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects under conflicting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills: interpersonal, verbal and written.
