About the position

The IT Project Manager at Henry Ford Health is responsible for overseeing small to medium-sized IT projects of low to moderate complexity. This role involves managing project teams, developing schedules, and ensuring timely completion of projects while adhering to project management policies and procedures. The position requires effective communication with stakeholders and team members to manage project expectations and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and implements project definitions, schedules, budgets, and objectives for one or more small to medium sized projects.
  • Prepares detailed statements of work and gains concurrence and approval from stakeholders regarding various project aspects.
  • Participates in delivery assurance reviews to ensure adherence to project management policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the staffing of projects and organizes project team members to ensure communication and understanding of deadlines, assignments, and objectives.
  • Manages costs, schedules, and quality by overseeing project deliverables and ensuring schedule and budget are met.
  • Performs ongoing review of project status; identifies possible project risks and recommends and implements risk mitigation solutions.
  • Interfaces with team members and stakeholders to manage changes to the project which may involve changes to technical requirements, business requirements, and schedule.
  • Manages client, company, and project team expectations for agreed upon project performance by obtaining, providing, and monitoring project metrics.
  • Oversees assigned personnel for projects, assigns work, and provides direction regarding timeliness and completion of project objectives.
  • Manages written and verbal stakeholder communication on the project goals, scope, schedule, budget, and project status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business administration, information technology, engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of project management experience required; 3 years project management experience in a Healthcare setting preferred.
  • Experience/exposure to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), certification preferred.
  • Experience working with a project management methodology and delivery assurance principles.
  • Experience in IT system implementations and/or system maintenance activities.
  • Knowledge and certification of ITIL methodology is preferred.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Good organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
