About the position

The IT Project Manager - IT Systems is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering large-scale IT projects within defined scope, budget, and timeline. This senior-level position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution, including resource management and risk mitigation. The role involves managing complex IT initiatives such as network, server, and software implementations, as well as PC deployments, while maintaining high standards of quality and alignment with business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver complex IT projects such as software upgrades, network implementations, system deployments, and technology infrastructure changes.
  • Coordinate work among internal IT teams, customers, and external contractors or consultants, ensuring that all project requirements are met.
  • Develop detailed project plans, monitor progress, manage resource allocation, and ensure on-time delivery within budget constraints.
  • Perform feasibility assessments and identify project risks, dependencies, and impacts.
  • Ensure quality standards are met and that the project's objectives align with business goals.
  • Collaborate with senior management and stakeholders to define project scope, goals, deliverables, and key success factors.
  • Communicate project expectations clearly to stakeholders and project teams.
  • Establish and manage timelines, milestones, and deadlines using project management tools and techniques.
  • Provide regular project status updates to stakeholders, including risk analysis and mitigation strategies.
  • Set clear success criteria and evaluate project performance through postmortem analysis.
  • Develop and implement best practices and tools for managing IT projects effectively.
  • Estimate resource requirements, including personnel and technical resources, to achieve project goals.
  • Draft, submit, and manage project budgets, making adjustments as necessary to meet project objectives.
  • Coordinate with department managers to secure internal resources and recruit additional staff or consultants as needed.
  • Oversee the hiring process and work with HR to onboard new team members during the project lifecycle.
  • Lead the full project lifecycle from initiation to delivery, ensuring that projects stay within scope, time, and cost constraints.
  • Create comprehensive project plans and communication documents to track project status, goals, and milestones.
  • Delegate tasks, responsibilities, and deadlines to team members while ensuring accountability and timely completion.
  • Resolve conflicts and issues within the project team, taking proactive steps to maintain team motivation and focus.
  • Monitor critical paths, project dependencies, and work progress to ensure project milestones are met on time.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, and presentations to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Manage changes to project scope, including identifying and addressing any project crises or issues that may arise.
  • Mentor and motivate project team members and contractors, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing IT projects, including team or project leadership responsibilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid approaches.
  • Strong technical acumen with the ability to assess and troubleshoot IT systems and related infrastructure.
  • Advanced skills in using project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar platforms) to plan, monitor, and report on project progress.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead teams and manage conflicts in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in managing project risks and unexpected challenges.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 5-8 years of experience managing complex IT projects, ideally with a focus on large-scale infrastructure, system integrations, or software implementations.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification
  • Scrum Master or Agile certification
  • ITIL Certification (for IT service management projects)
