About the position

The IT Project Manager, Level I at Akima is responsible for overseeing and managing strategic IT projects at the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. This role involves leading project teams through the entire project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to company strategies and methodologies, and delivering projects within defined constraints such as scope, schedule, and budget. The position requires effective communication with upper management and project teams, as well as the ability to resolve conflicts and manage resources efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the day-to-day activities of one or more IT projects.
  • Lead complex IT projects through the full project life cycle including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Develop and execute project execution plans including deliverables, goals, milestones, and budget management.
  • Participate in departmental management processes such as planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Brief upper management on project activities, cost, schedule, status, and technical performance.
  • Resolve resource conflicts and project issues with project teams and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/science/information technology discipline with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in Microsoft Project and/or Primavera (P6).
  • Strong interpersonal communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

  • SAFe Certification preferred.
  • Scrum Master Certification preferred.
  • Agile Project Management Certification preferred.
  • ITIL Foundations Certification preferred.
  • ServiceNow experience with Agile Development and Project modules preferred.
