The IT Project Manager for Network Services at the Department of Justice is primarily responsible for managing the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) nationwide IT Network infrastructure projects, which support nearly 38,000 BOP staff. This role involves preparing, implementing, monitoring, and updating project plans while coordinating with system owners and upper management to ensure that actions align with approved plans. The IT Project Manager oversees the design, testing, and implementation of network systems, providing technical oversight and managing the development of capabilities. Additionally, the position includes training and developing IT specialists and advising on the fundamentals and principles of network infrastructure hardware, software, architecture, and integration. The IT Project Manager is also tasked with reviewing and updating standards for network infrastructure, identifying maintenance procedures for physical network infrastructure and Wi-Fi components, and ensuring compliance with DOJ/BOP cybersecurity practices. This role requires planning, developing, and implementing network information assurance techniques, procedures, and guidance to ensure user access control, including personnel, software, and information security requirements. The position is critical in fostering a secure and efficient IT environment within the Bureau of Prisons, ensuring that all network-related projects are executed effectively and in alignment with the agency's goals.
