About the position

The IT Project Manager or Sr IT Project Manager is responsible for managing the standard Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases of assigned projects using company-defined methodologies and standards. This role involves strategizing, planning, executing, and closing multiple large-scale and complex inter-departmental projects while ensuring stakeholder engagement and project objectives are met.

Responsibilities

  • Strategize, initiate, plan, execute, control, and close multiple large scale and complex inter-departmental projects.
  • Act as a sub-project manager and provide input into the project management process for larger cross-segment business projects.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors and stakeholders to obtain best market prices and secure commitments.
  • Work with business units, external vendors, and stakeholders to complete project objectives of delivery, content, and quality.
  • Track project schedule and cost, report project status, create project-related documentation, and capture lessons learned using company standards and procedures.
  • Proactively manage all stakeholders' expectations and involvement, building consensus.
  • Initiate, develop, plan, execute, manage, forecast, re-forecast, control, and close multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Recommend or propose standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
  • Capture lessons learned at the close of each project and document for knowledge transfer.
  • Run team initiation meetings to scope the project and develop the project charter, design processes, and critical path.
  • Write Scope/Statement of Work documentation including resource identification, project cost, and schedule provisions.
  • Develop the project schedule baseline, Gantt chart, and budget.
  • Monitor and report using Earned Value Management.
  • Manage change order processes and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Identify critical paths, contingency plans, and manage project risks.
  • Matrix manage cross-functional teams to bring projects to a successful close.
  • Lead the creation of appropriate teams and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to each team member.
  • Manage project teams and provide guidance to resolve problems or conflicts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with five to seven years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Project Management Certification from the Project Management Institute is required.
  • Extensive knowledge in all aspects of network, hardware, and software technologies and standards.
  • Proven understanding of SDLC and project management methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and detect, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with project management software, templates, tools, and scheduling.
